Operation of All-Day Optional Schools
Each Pre-Primary/Primary/Special School, in order to operate as an All-Day School, needs to obtain the approval of the Minister of Education, Sport and Youth. The Director of Primary Education examines the request submitted by the Parents Associations. Then he/she forwards all requests that meet the requirements to the General Director and the Minister for approval. A prerequisite for a school to operate as an All-Day School is the minimum number of children who must show interest (please see document YPAN DDE POS 01 (EN): “Expression of Interest – Information (English)” at Ministry’s website). Exceptions may be made in cases where it is essential for a school to operate as an All-Day School, due to particular circumstances (distant area/zone of educational priority etc.).
