Educational trip/visit is the movement of a group of pupils or one or more classes, for educational purposes or entertainment, to places outside the school. Educational trips/visits are organized by the school and are under the responsibility of the headteacher.
Educational trips/visits are an integral part of education and a necessary integration to the pupils' upbringing. Their purpose is to give pupils the opportunity to get to know the natural, cultural, and social environment of their area, to communicate with each other as a group, and to work together in executing beneficial and educational activities.
During educational trips/visits, mass movement and gathering of pupils in the same areas are avoided for reasons of safety, better organization, and effectiveness. Communication between pupils and teachers is ensured, as well as familiarization with the environment.
Appropriate information and preparation of pupils is provided for educational trips/visits in order to maximize their educational benefits and safety, as well as to cultivate a culture of respect for the visited areas.
Educational trips/visits take place during school hours. However, upon decision of the teaching staff, the return time to school may be extended beyond the regular schedule.
Trips abroad are approved only by the Ministry. Special care is taken for these trips to ensure timely preparation, following guidelines provided by the Director of Primary Education.
