The school year starts on the 1st of September and ends on the 31st of August of the following year. Teachers come to school on the first Monday of September until the penultimate Friday of June. Pupils come to school and start lessons on the second Monday of September until the Wednesday before the penultimate Friday of June included.
For the purpose of planning school activities, each school year is divided into two quarters as follows:
Α’ Quarter: Beginning of school classes until the end of January.
Β’ Quarter: Beginning of February until the end of classes.
The curriculum and the timetable of the schools of Pre-Primary, Primary and Special Education are determined by the Council of Ministers after relevant proposal by the Ministry. Lessons start each day at 7.45 a.m. and end at 1.05 p.m. The weekly attendance is from Monday to Friday.
